Clacton & Felixstowe Piers

Durable, modern facilities at these iconic landmarks

The Challenge

Felixstowe and Clacton Piers, both iconic landmarks on the East Coast, have been popular seaside destinations for many years. Clacton Pier opened in 1871, and Felixstowe Pier followed in 1905. Originally used as landing platforms for ships and steamers, these piers have evolved to accommodate increasing numbers of visitors. With the growing popularity of the piers and their attractions, the demand for upgraded and expanded facilities, particularly washrooms, became a priority. The challenge was to create washrooms that could handle high levels of foot traffic while maintaining cleanliness and offering modern, smart amenities for visitors.

The Solution

To meet the needs of both piers, Challenger Cubicles were selected for their durability and versatility, ideal for handling heavy use. Paired with Solid Grade Laminate (SGL) Duct Panels, the washrooms were designed to withstand the wear and tear of high traffic while offering a long-lasting solution.

For the handwashing areas, High Pressure Laminate Vanity Tops were combined with SGL Vanity Units. This combination ensured a modern, hygienic, and durable setup that could withstand the demands of busy seaside facilities, while maintaining a clean, professional look.

The Outcome

The newly refurbished washrooms at Felixstowe and Clacton Piers now offer practical, durable, and aesthetically pleasing facilities that cater to the high volume of visitors. The Challenger Cubicles, along with SGL Duct Panels and SGL Vanity Units, ensure the washrooms are easy to maintain, long-lasting, and capable of handling the heavy foot traffic that comes with these popular seaside attractions.
