Inspiration Academy
The Challenge
Inspiration Academy in Dartford, part of The Leigh UTC Group, offers a specialised learning programme focused on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). As part of creating an innovative environment for students, the academy sought a new approach to their washroom design. Moving away from traditional enclosed toilet rooms, the goal was to provide open-access washrooms that promote a safer and more inclusive environment while helping reduce bullying and vandalism often associated with older toilet designs. The challenge was to create a space that ensured privacy, was anti-vandal, and addressed concerns such as the inappropriate use of phones in the washroom.
The Solution
Altitude SGL Full Height Cubicles were selected to provide the necessary privacy for the open-plan washroom design. To meet the project’s specification and the client’s requirements, bespoke privacy trims were designed and installed around the doors to prevent the misuse of phones, specifically to block illicit phone camera use.
The cubicles were manufactured in a sleek combination of Contemporary Grey and Cloud, complemented by Fresh Lime IPS Duct Panels, adding a vibrant splash of colour to the space. For the handwashing area, Solid Surface Handwash Troughs in Tristone Pure White were chosen for their stylish, durable, and hygienic qualities, contributing to the overall appeal and practicality of the new washroom facilities.
The Outcome
The newly designed washrooms at Inspiration Academy offer a modern, secure, and stylish solution that encourages positive student behaviour. The Altitude SGL Full Height Cubicles, combined with bespoke privacy features and vibrant colour schemes, deliver a functional and safe environment that meets the academy’s needs. The Solid Surface Handwash Troughs complete the design, offering a durable and hygienic solution for students. The innovative open-access layout contributes to a more inclusive atmosphere, aligning with the academy’s values of fostering creativity and reducing anti-social behaviour.
