Thomas Lord Audley School
The Challenge
Thomas Lord Audley School, a mixed secondary academy in Colchester, Essex, needed to create modern, functional washrooms as part of their school refurbishment project. The goal was to create open-plan, unisex washrooms that could accommodate a high volume of students while providing privacy and durability. The challenge was to design a space that would be both practical and modern for the 800 pupils attending the academy.
The Solution
To meet the requirements of the new washroom spaces, the architects specified the Altitude Cubicle System. This system has minimal floor clearance for added privacy, with an optional Altitude XP System for even greater privacy. The cubicles are equipped with high-quality aluminium hardware, including anti-breakout hinges and robust action locks with emergency release facilities.
SGL Wall Panelling was also used to conceal cisterns and pipework, creating a clean, sleek look. Postformed vanity tops and SGL vanity bases provided a durable and practical solution for the washroom areas.
The Outcome
The washroom refurbishment at Thomas Lord Audley School successfully created a modern, efficient, and private space for students. The Altitude Cubicle System, along with the wall panelling and vanity units, provided an aesthetically pleasing, secure, and durable washroom environment that meets the needs of both students and staff.
