Choose the Right Material: HPL vs SGL Duct Panels
Choosing the right material for your IPS duct panels depends on how your washroom will be used, particularly regarding expected traffic levels and likely moisture exposure. We supply our bespoke IPS panels in both high pressure laminate (HPL) and solid grade laminate (SGL) configurations, and they each offer distinct benefits depending on their intended environment.
This table outlines the key differences to help you select the most appropriate option for your washrooms, and you can learn more about SGL and HPL duct panels from our blog post.
| Material | Best For | Thickness | Key Benefits |
|---|---|---|---|
| HPL | General washrooms with low-to-medium traffic levels and minimal moisture exposure | 18mm | Cost-effective solution for low to medium-use areas, offering a durable, impact-resistant finish with a thicker core and multiple edge options. |
| SGL | Higher-moisture areas, showers, high-traffic washrooms, high-impact areas | 13mm | Fully waterproof, solid core panels for high-traffic and high-moisture environments, with polished and radiused edges. Suitable for showers. |

Pre-framed systems are supplied with panels already clipped onto a purpose-built frame. On site, the panels are unclipped, the frame is fixed into position, and the panels are then clipped back on. This ensures everything is made to measure, fits correctly and helps reduce installation time on site. Site-framed options are supplied to suit existing on-site framing, making them a practical choice for refurbishment projects.
