UEA Building 60
The Challenge
The University of East Anglia is experiencing continuous growth, with new buildings and learning spaces opening each year to accommodate the increasing student population. One of the latest additions is Building 60, a state-of-the-art teaching facility, set to open in September 2019. The challenge was to contribute to the building’s sustainability goals while ensuring the project stayed on track with its construction timeline.
The Solution
Dunhams Washrooms played a key role in supporting the university’s sustainability efforts by supplying IPS Panelling manufactured from Smile Plastic Decorative Panels. These panels are handcrafted from 100% recycled materials, showcasing the unexpected beauty of repurposed materials. By using these panels, the university not only enhanced the aesthetic of the building but also contributed to a more sustainable future.
To maintain the construction schedule, the IPS Panelling was produced in-house at our factory using modern CNC machinery. This allowed for efficient production, ensuring the panels were ready without causing any delays in the building’s timeline.
The Outcome
The Smile Plastic Decorative Panels used in the IPS Panelling now form an integral part of the sustainable design of Building 60. The use of 100% recycled materials aligns with the university’s commitment to sustainability while adding an aesthetically pleasing touch to the modern teaching space. The project was completed on time, helping the university meet its construction goals while making a positive environmental impact.
